Why use CR123A batteries?
CR123A can provide higher current to lighting applications. LED lights that use CR123A batteries are generally brighter than AA and often only one cell is required rather than two (reducing the size of the end product).
What size is equivalent to CR123A?
An example of this would be a 16340 sized battery. The 16340 battery is the exact same size as the CR123A battery but is made of a Lithium-Ion chemistry and is rechargeable (secondary) battery.
What battery is better CR2 or CR123A?
CR2 has a capacity of 600-900mAH, whereas CR123 has a capacity of 700-1700mAH. As a result, CR2 would provide power for a shorter period of time than CR123. Their capacity has no bearing on their effectiveness. Instead, it has a lot to do with how long these batteries can last before they need to be recharged.
Are all CR123a batteries the same?
If you such for 123 lithium batteries, you will often find a selection of CR123s or DL 123As. For this particular sized battery, the ‘a’ makes no difference. For this reason, each of the batteries, and more specifically the CR123 and the CR123a are 100% interchangeable.
